Strengthening Civil Society Rights by Information Access for European Youth – SIA4Y. This is an open education platform created by youth and for youth, an interactive resource with the possibility to constantly add new materials – articles, photos, videos.
AEKS has organised two events and research on access to information for the youth in cooperation of SIA4Y project. The first event was held with international quests in Haaga-Helia Porvoo Campus on 13 – 14 September 2019. The international partners from Poland and Belgium discussed in a focus group of meeting with the Finnish students of Business Administration the question of access to public information in Finland. AEKS presented the good practice of ’Ohjaamo’ – a one-stop shop in Finland to serve the young people with information about study opportunities, jobs and social services. As a result of the meeting, AEKS in cooperation with SAI4Y launched a survey to collect information about young people’s opinion on access to public information. The young people helped to make the survey into an online questionnaire. Young people from different education institutions replied to the survey. A follow-up meeting with Finnish students of Journalism was held at Haaga-Helia Pasila Campus on 21 October 2019. AEKS presented the project and the aim of engaging young people to debate on access to information. The students were interested to learn how the EU can contribute to civil society rights to secure access to information.
